97.6 per cent land acquisition completed in Gujarat for bullet train project

Gandhinagar: National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHRCL) has completed 80 percent of the land acquisition after paying a redemption of Rs 7,027 crores for Rs 1.08 lakh crore Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.

A total 97.6 percent land acquisition is completed in Gujarat as of 13th October. In Maharashtra, 31 percent land acquisition is completed for this project. A total land acquisition of 1,025 hectares is required for this project, out of which 818.03 hectares land acquisition is completed as of 13th October. The redemption of Rs 5535 crores is paid in Gujarat and Rs 1,421 crores is paid in Maharashtra.

A total 100 percent land acquisition is completed in Dadra Nagar Haveli for this project for which NHRCL has acquired 7.52 hectares of land after paying redemption of Rs 70 crores. The project is proceeding towards its second phase in Gujarat. In Kheda and Anand, 100 percent land acquisition is completed in which 99 hectares of land is acquired in Kheda and 47 hectares of land is acquired in Anand. Total 99.81 percent of land acquisition is completed in Bharuch. Total 94 percent land acquisition is completed in Vadodara out of 108 hectares requirement. In Valsad, 98 percent land acquisition is completed out of 102 plots. In Surat, 96 percent land acquisition is completed out of 142.95 hectares.

The land acquisition is to be done in 3 districts of Maharashtra. There is a requirement of acquiring 4 hectares of land in suburban areas of Mumbai, for which the process is started. In Palghar, 190.3 hectares land acquisition is required out of which 36.61 hectares of land is acquired. In Thane, 49.14 hectares land acquisition is completed out of the requirement of 80.8 hectares land acquisition.

The project of 508.17 km length is to be completed till 2023. Its foundation stone laying was done by PM Narendra Modi and the then PM of Japan Sinzo Abe on 14th September 2017. DeshGujarat
