ACB Gujarat nabs ASI and Jail Assistant in two separate cases of bribe taking

Dahod: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Badabhai Dalsingbhai Chauhan who works in Detection Staff of Dahod Town Police Station in Dahod district for taking Rs. 10,000 bribe in his office room.

According to ACB, complainant’s niece had eloped with a boy about two months ago after which compromised was made between the parents. However the amount of compromised fixed by elders of community was not paid by boy’s parents, following which complainant’s brother picked up boy’s parents and confined them to a place. After police’s intervention the amount of compromise which was Rs. 1 lakh was paid by boy’s parents to girl’s parents. Accused ASI demanded Rs. 20,000 for police’s intervention. After bargain, the sum of bribe was cut to Rs. 10,000. As complainant didn’t want to pay bribe, he contacted ACB following which a trap was arranged and accused was nabbed while receiving bribe money.

In another case filed by ACB, a Jail Assistant Hitesh Kanubhai Rabari who works with sub-jail of Godhra in Panchmahal district was nabbed for receiving Rs. 500 bribe at his cabin in Sub-jail of Godhra for release of a prisoner on bail granted by the court.

ACB had received information that Rs. 100 to Rs. 500 bribe is taken from prisoners for their release on bail, granted by court. ACB arranged a decoy trap to confirm this bribe taking activity. In a decoy trap, an accused demanded Rs. 500 bribe but later kept Rs. 400 with him and returned Rs. 100 to decoyer. Accused Jail Assistant was nabbed by ACB. DeshGujarat
