Gandhinagar: The state government has decided to provide financial assistance of up to Rs 1500 for purchase of a smartphone to the farmers in the state. A government resolution issued by the Agriculture, farmers welfare and cooperation department of the state government informed that any landholding farmer in Gujarat can apply for the assistance of 10 percent of the total cost of a smartphone not exceeding Rs 1500 on i-khedut portal. In case of a joint holding farm, only one beneficiary will be eligible for the aid. The beneficiary farmers will have to provide a copy of the purchase bill of smartphone, mobile IMEI number, a cancelled check etc. after the application is approved. The State is going to witness Gram Panchayat elections in over 10,000 villages next month. The State is also going to witness the general elections of State assembly next year.
