Gujarat govt proposes to delay SVPI Airport runway resurfacing after Vibrant Gujarat Summit
November 24, 2021
Surat: State Civil Aviation Minister Purnesh Modi has proposed to postpone the runway resurfacing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport to 20th January instead of starting it from 3rd January due to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, which is going to take place from 10 to 12 January in State capital Gandhinagar. SVPI airport is the closest airport to Gandhinagar where Summit is going to be held.
To reschedule the runway resurfacing, an approval from national capital New Delhi based aviation regulator, Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will be required. If the proposal is approved, then it will be the third time that the planned runway resurfacing shall be rescheduled.
The runway will be closed for flights from 9 am to 6 pm and the flights will operate either before 9 am or after 6 pm whenever the resurfacing project starts. DeshGujarat
