World Bank and AIIB aid for transformation of govt schools in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The World Bank Mission team is on a 4-day visit to the state from 23rd to 26th November with an agenda of transformation of around 20,000 government schools within the upcoming 5 years under Mission School of Excellence in the state.

On the first day of the visit, the team of representatives of the World Bank had a meeting with state education minister Jitubhai Vaghani and cabinet minister Kirtisinh Vaghela. The funding of around Rs 8000 crores by World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will be provided and over 90 percent students studying in the government schools in the state will be benefited through it, said the State government in a note.

The phased planning for the same was discussed by the world bank representative Shabnam Sinha and team with state education secretary Vinod Rao and other senior officials through a workshop. Other subject experts of the World Bank had virtually joined in the workshop and given their opinions. The World Bank team will visit schools in Mehsana and Sabarkantha district. DeshGujarat
