Curtain Raiser of the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022 held in New Delhi

New Delhi: Applauding the remarkable progress in economic and social development in the country under visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that Gujarat has taken great strides in developing a resilient, responsive and a vibrant economy over the past two decades. He added that Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit was conceptualized in 2003 under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Addressing top industrialists at the curtain raiser of 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022 organized by the State Government in Delhi, Shri Patel apprised that the Summit will be inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India on 10th January 2022 in the august presence of Heads of States and senior dignitaries from other countries, Ministers from Government of India, Global CEOs, representatives from multilateral organizations and thought leaders.

The clarion call for “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”was given by PM in 2020 which aims to use India’s strengths, skills and capabilities for global good. In line with this vision, the theme of the 10th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit has been decided as “Aatmanirbhar Gujarat to Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.

Sharing the achievements of Gujarat in various sectors of socio-economic development, Shri Patel asserted that Gujarat is the most preferred investment destination to do business by Indian and global conglomerates. He also narrated some remarkable achievements of Gujarat viz highest FDI equity inflow worth USD 21.9 billion during the FY 2021, top of the chart in the Logistics Ease Across Different States for 3 years 2018,2019 and 2021, etc.

India’s next wave of growth will be driven by mega industrial infrastructure projects including projects in Gujarat such as Dholera SIR, Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), GIFT City, DREAM City etc.

With the upcoming world’s largest hybrid solar and wind renewable energy park in Kutch, Gujarat will consolidate its position as India’s renewable capital with addition of 30 GW by 2023.

With talent, technology and transparency, Gujarat is rapidly transforming its capabilities, offering globally competitive opportunities for collaboration. There is a ‘new appetite’ to deepen engagement across sectors; fresh and traditional alike. Gujarat takes pride in robust ecosystem, futuristic industries, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship potential, Gujarat CM stated.

Being true to its entrepreneurial spirit, the state is home to leading startup mentorship institutes such as iHub, ICreate and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII). The State Government’s aim is to shape India’s next star unicorns from Gujarat, he stated.

“Gujarat’s reputation as a business-friendly state across national and international geographies is driven by our robust industrial infrastructure. Its proactive policymaking, including ease of doing business, has made it the most preferred business destination of India and the world alike”, Shri Bhupendra Patel said.

In its 75th year of independence when India is celebrating “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, Gujarat is committed to realizing Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The 10th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022 will showcase Gujarat’s distinctive accomplishments, strengths across sectors and its preparedness to lead Aatmanirbhar Bharat’s growth story, CM apprised.

Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Chemicals & Fertilizers stated in his address that PM conceptualized this summit and made his dream a reality. What we are witnessing today is the fruit of 20 years of his dedication. In Gujarat, you will find every infrastructure needed for business but its biggest strength is its culture of hospitality.

Shri Parsottam Rupala, Union Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairying said that today 20,000 people visit statue of unity everyday and Gujarat’s irrigation network has increased manifold due to the Narmada dam. He added that “I am proud to say that the then Chief Minister who started this Vibrant summit series is now the PM of the nation”.

Gujarat Chief Secretary, Shri Pankaj Kumar invited everyone to attend VGGS 2022. He said that Dholera SIR and GIFT CITY are the big ticket projects for the development of Gujarat. This state is vibrant and has a very strong presence of MSMEs. We have not lost a single man-day in the state. On all parameters, Gujarat is a leading state. He invited potential investors to come and experience the vibrant feel of Gujarat.

In a packed hall at Leela Palace, Delhi, the roadshow kicked off with an audio-visual presentation showcasing the potential of the state as a global business hub and a great place to live. Shri Rajiv Gupta, Addl Chief Secretary (industries) made a presentation highlighting the strengths of Gujarat in terms of its industrial ecosystem & showcasing the investment opportunities available in Gujarat across various sectors.

In the presentation, ACS (Industries) highlighted the Macro-economic indicators of the state, which emphasized Gujarat as the top state in the country which is reflected in the GDP performance of the state. Gujarat accounts for the highest share of investments realized in the country over the past decade. He also highlighted that Gujarat has the unique distinction of being the best performing state across parameters such as LEADS Index, Water Management Index, State Startup Ranking, etc.

It was also highlighted that Gujarat performs exceptionally well across key factors of production. Gujarat has a proactive Government which is committed to ease of doing business, as shown by the investor-friendly policies that have been adopted by the state. The policies of the state have a focus on not just providing incentives but also on development of an ecosystem that promotes cost-competitive manufacturing.  Therefore, the state has rolled out over 20 sector specific policies with a bouquet of incentives around production, infrastructure development, research and development, etc. The purpose of these policies is to promote research and development, deployment of physical infrastructure, upskilling, apprenticeship, etc.

Mr. Anurag Jain, Secretary DPIIT, GOI and Mr B Thiagarajan, CII Chairman of Western Region also spoke about how Gujarat provides robust infrastructure facilities to the investors.

Shri Devusinh Chauhan, Union Minister of State for Communications, Mrs. Darshna Jardosh, Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles, Shri Jagdish Paanchal, Gujarat Minister of State for Industries, Shri K. Kailashnathan, Principal Chief Secretary to CM and other senior officers from the State Government also attended the event.
