Nearly 3 lakh ration cards in Gujarat put under Silent status

Gandhinagar: The food and civil supply department has put over 2.98 lakh ration cards under silent status by September 2021 in the state.

The food and civil supply department has decided to convert a ration card to a silent ration card if the cardholder doesn’t purchase food and grains from the fair price shops for 3 continuous months. The cardholder is then supposed to visit the supply office and present the necessary documents to reactivate the ration card. Total 2,98,976 ration cards are converted to silent ration cards till September 2021 across the state.

The highest 22,442 ration cards have been converted to silent ration cards in Ahmedabad city, followed by Bharuch- 15,158 cards, Navsari- 14,993 cards, Vadodara- 14,463 cards, Sabarkantha- 14,441 cards, Kheda district- 13,257 cards, Gir Somnath- 10,827 cards, Porbandar- 10,111 cards. DeshGujarat
