November 30, 2021
Vapi: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved grand victory in Vapi Municipality election in Valsad district of Southern most Gujarat. BJP won 37 out of total 44 seats including one seat unopposed, as per the State Election Commission.
Opposition Congress party could win 3 seats of ward number five. One of three victorious Congress candidate Jinal Patel while speaking to media persons said she herself was surprised with Congress party’s victory on three seats. All 4 Congress candidates from ward number six including Nasrinbanu Panwala and Pirmohammad Makrani won. The Congress tally at the end of counting was 7.
Once again, against all tall pre-election claims, Aam Admi Party (AAP) candidates were in discussion on the result day only for losing deposits in mass.
Largely an industrial town located between Mumbai and Surat, with almost zero percent of unemployment, Vapi had previously (in 2016) also made BJP victorious in grand way soon after demonetisation was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP had won 41 of the total 44 seats of Vapi Municipality in 2016 while Congress had won 3 seats. The tally of BJP after five years is down to 37, mainly due to upset in ward number five, but it is still a grand victory. DeshGujarat
