At least 8 fishermen reportedly go missing off Gir Somnath Coast

Veraval: An incident of drowning of fishing boats and missing fishermen has been reported off Gir-Somnath coast of Saurashtra region of Gujarat due to unfavorable strong wind and current in sea. It is learnt that five fishermen swam to save their lives. They were rescued and taken to Nava Bandar coast. They were taken to medical care facility as they had suffered injuries. However 8 to 10 fishermen are still missing as per local fishermen. The boats involved are Gauri Nandan, Dhanvantari, Shiv Priya, Hari Prasad and Al Faizan. Help of Indian Coast Guard helicopter is being taken for search and rescue of missing fishermen. An aircraft of Indian Navy is also active.
According to Defence PRO of Gujarat, Indian Coast Guard received information of sunk Fishing Boats at Navadra, Una Harbour-mouth due to bad weather. Fishermen warning for North Gujarat coast (Jakhau, Mandvi(Kutch), Mundra, New Kandla, Navlakhi, Jamnagar, Salaya, Okha, Porbandar)- NIL
No warning for fishermen for North Gujarat coast from 01st December to 05th December 2021.
Fishermen warning for South Gujarat coast ( MulDwarka, Veraval, Diu, Jafrabad, Pipavav, Victor, Bhavnagar, Alang, Bharuch, Dahej, Magdalla, Daman) – Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph very likely to prevail along and off South Gujarat coast and adjoining Northeast Arabian Sea on 01st December 2021.
Fishermen are advised not to venture along and off South Gujarat coast and adjoining Northeast Arabian Sea on 01st December 2021.
No warning for fishermen for South Gujarat coast from 02nd December to 05th December 2021.
Fishermen warning for open sea and other areasSqually weather with wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph very likely to prevail along and off Maharashtra, Goa and North Karnataka coasts and adjoining East Central
Arabian Sea on 01st December 2021.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the above mentioned area during the above mentioned period.
High Wave Alert issued by INCOIS: High waves in the range of 1.5 – 3.2 meters are forecasted during 10:30 hours on 01-12-2021 to 23:30 hours of 03-12-2021 along the coast of Gujarat from Diu to Okha and from Mandvi to Jakhau.
Surface Current speeds vary between 40 – 95 cm/sec.
