Jagdish Thakor becomes new President of Gujarat Congress
December 03, 2021
Gandhinagar: Congress high-command in Delhi has finally appointed Jagdish Thakor as new president of Gujarat Congress. Thakor, a former Lok Sabha member will succeed Amit Chavda, the incumbent president of Gujarat Congress who had offered resignation months ago. MLAs of the main opposition party in Gujarat will meet and elect Sukhram Rathwa as new leader of opposition succeeding Paresh Dhanani. Gujarat is going to witness general elections of State assembly exactly after one year, in December 2022 if on schedule. While Jgadish Thakor hails from Kshatriya – Thakor community which belongs to Other Backward Class (OBC), Sukhram Rathwa is tribal MLA from Pavi Jetpur assembly seat. Party’s this move along with induction of Jignesh Mevani a few weeks ago is seen as an attempt to revisit to KHAM (Kshatriya, Harijan, Adivasi, Muslim) theory. DeshGujarat
