Gujarat govt announces relief package for fishermen

Gandhinagar: The state government has declared a relief package of Rs 265 lakh for the fishermen of Amreli and Gir Somnath districts.

The decision was made in the cabinet meeting held in the leadership of CM Bhupendra Patel today. The revenue minister Rajendra Trivedi informed that the relief package is declared as the heavy winds have caused damages in the coastal areas of Arabian sea at Amreli and Gir Somnath district. He informed that a total 29,716 boats including 17,557 small boats and 12159 large boats are associated with fisheries. Out of these boats, 4 small and 46 large boats are partially damaged, he added. A total of 50 boats, fishing nets and other equipment have faced damages of around Rs 265 lakh, he added.

Either 50 % of the estimated damages or Rs 35000 relief, whichever is less, will be provided for partial damage to small boats. For complete damage to small boats, either 50 % of the estimated damages or Rs 75000 relief, whichever is less will be provided.

For the partial damage to troller/ dollnetter/ gillnetter boats, either 50 % of the estimated damages or Rs 2 lakh relief, whichever is less, will be provided. For the complete damage to troller/ dollnetter/ gillnetter boats, either 50 % of the estimated damages or Rs 5 lakh relief, whichever is less, will be provided. DeshGujarat
