Gujarat High Court rejects a plea against redevelopment of slum quarters

Maninagar: The Gujarat high court rejected the petition filed by 42 residents of the buildings opposing the redevelopment plan of the slum quarters in Khokhra in the city on Monday.
The petition was filed by the 42 residents against the developer undertaking the demolition of 448 houses in the slum quarters. These residents claimed that they did not want redevelopment and sought permission to continue to live in the same houses. Though the high court considered that the majority of the residents had consented to the redevelopment plan. Such residents have vacated their houses, shifted to rented premises and accepted cheques from developers for rent.
