SVPI airport suffered loss in pandemic year; Kandla and Porbandar earned profit

Sabarmati: The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport faced loss of Rs 109.89 crores last year due to the covid-19 pandemic, whereas the Kandla and Porbandar Airports managed to earn the profit, as per the details presented in the Winter Session of Lok Sabha.

The SVPI Airport had earned profits of Rs 52.46 crores in 2018-19 and Rs 45.71 crore in 2019-20. Though the SVPI airport faced loss in the last financial year due to the flights suspended for over 2 months and lack of the passengers due to covid-19 pandemic. In addition to SVPI Airport, the airports at Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Diu, Jamnagar, Keshod, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara also faced losses last year. These details were shared in a reply in parliament.
