Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project’s East – West Corridor may start operating in June 2022

Sabarmati: The metro train connecting East and West of the Ahmedabad city is likely to start operating from June, 2022.
As informed by the government in reply to a question in Lok Sabha winter session, the work of the phase 1 of Ahmedabad metro rail project is 80.50 percent completed and the work of phase 2 is 6.50 percent completed. The metro of phase 2 is likely to start operating from December 2023 in Ahmedabad.
There are 15 stations in the north-south corridor of Ahmedabad metro and there are 17 stations in the east-west corridor of it.
The work of phase 1 of the project is being given a final touch at present. The work of the Surat metro project is 3.45 percent completed and it is likely to start operating from March 2024.
A 21.16 km long East-West corridor has 17 stations including Nirant cross road, Vastral, Rabari Colony, Amraiwadi, Apparel Park, Kankariya East, Kalupur railway station, Ghee Kanta, Shahpur, Old High Court, Stadium, Commerce College Six roads, Gujarat University, Gurukul Road, Doordarshan Kendra, Thaltej etc. Out of 17, Kankariya East, Kalupur Railway Station, Ghee Kanta and Shahpur will be underground stations.
Phase-1 Motera Stadium to Vasna APMC corridor shall be 18.87 km long with 15 stations including Sabarmati, AEC, Sabarmati Railway Station, Ranip, Vadaj, Vijaynagar, Usmanpura, Old High Court, Gandhigram, Paldi, Shreyas Crossing, Rajivnagar and Jivraj.
