Sabarmati: In a recent case of love-jihad, a Muslim man raped, emotionally blackmailed, and performed religious conversion of a 18-year old Hindu girl after a court marriage.

The 18-year old victim Hindu girl, studying in college and living with her parents in Naranpura, Ahmedabad had come in contact with the accused Muslim man named Riyaz Rafiq Meman through Instagram in 2019. The accused man is from Palanpur and does car trading. He had asked the girl to send nude photographs. He had threatened the girl by making cuts with a blade on his hand when the girl refused to send. Later, the accused had started blackmailing the girl after she sent him the nude photographs.

The accused had demanded an amount of Rs 10 lakh from the victim by giving threats of making her photographs viral. He had then asked the girl to escape from her home with Rs 2.5 lakh and original documents. The girl had escaped with Rs 10 thousand and documents. The accused had then raped her at Himalaya Inn hotel in Himalaya mall. Later, he took her to Tharad and then to Rajasthan. He had a court marriage with her in Rajasthan. He then called a maulvi, performed religious conversion of the girl and married with her as per muslim rituals. A friend of the accused had also allegedly molested her.

The Vastrapur police had filed crime against the accused under the sections of rape, threatening, POCSO, IT act, and Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act 2021. The accused Muslim man is nabbed by the police. It is found in the investigation that the accused is already married once and it was his second marriage with the victim Hindu girl. DeshGujarat
