Amul to set up processing plant for fruits and vegetables in Kutch

Bhuj: Amul dairy in Kutch will set up a processing plant for fruits and vegetables to give encouragement to horticulture, considering the suggestion of Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi.

PM Modi had suggested that Amul should establish a fruit and vegetable processing plant. Amul should buy crops such as pomegranate, dried dates and mangoes from the farmers and make juices and other varieties from them and launch these products in the market, he has suggested.

Amul dairy vice-chairman and Kutch border dairy chairman Valamjibhai Humbal said that the process for establishing fruit and vegetable processing plants has started. An engineer was also appointed earlier but the work was delayed due to covid-19 pandemic.

A special lab for the checking of organic fruits will be also made by Amul in Kutch. The plant will be set up on a cooperative basis and the revenue generated from profits will be diverted to the income of farmers.
