2021: Jio tops chart with 17.45 lakh new users in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: After becoming the market leader in 2020, Jio continued to gain mobile phone user base in Gujarat in 2021. Starting from January till end of October in 2021, number of Jio mobile users in state increased by 17.45 lakh.
Post pandemic, when whole world moved from offline to online, internet became the need of the hour for everyone. As an impact, the demand for Jio services was continuously high. By the end of December 2020, Gujarat had total 6.77 crore mobile users in which, Jio had share of over 37% with 2.54 crore user base.
The total mobile numbers in Gujarat increased to 6.87 crore by end of October 31, 2021. The total number of subscribers increased by less 2% while Jio posted growth of over 6%. In 2021, Jio’s share remained highest with about 40% and ended with total 2.71 crore subscribers in circle by end of October 2021.
As per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) subscription report, of the total number 6.87 crore users in Gujarat till end of October 2021, the customer market share of other telecom operators including Vodafone Idea is 35.23% with 2.42 crore users while Airtel had 17% share with 1.17 crore users followed by BSNL’s 8% share with 55 lakh users.
Similarly, with presence in about 25 cities and towns of Gujarat, JioFiber too has witnessed huge demand in 2021. By the end of October 31, 2021, JioFiber had 3.15 lakh connections in Gujarat. Including all big cities of state, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Gandhinagar and others, JioFiber increased its number of userbase by 47% in the year.
Till December 31, 2020, JioFiber had 2.14 lakh connections in state. DeshGujarat
