Three passengers held by Customs department at SVPI Airport

Ahmedabad: The customs department has held 3 passengers at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport traveling to Sharjah with a total 3.90 lakh USD.

The 3.90 lakh USD is equivalent to around 3 crore INR. One passenger named Rushabh Bhaveshbhai Moradiya was found suspicious after he entered the check-in area. The X-BIS image of his bag came out to be orange in the checking. Around 40,000 USD (equivalent to 29,74,000 INR) was found from his bag during the investigation. The information was conveyed to the customs department. Later, CCTV footage was analyzed to check the movements of the traveler.

Another traveler named Sanjay Kumar Khogri was found entering with the first traveler in the terminal building. He had proceeded towards the check-in counter after leaving the first traveler at a random X-BIS machine. He was found doing some suspicious activities besides the airline counter in CCTV footage. The customs officials held him and found 1.5 lakh USD (equivalent to INR 1,11,52,500) from him. After inquiring with the airlines, a third traveler named Gaurang Navinchandra was found traveling with these two travelers. Around 2 lakh USD (equivalent to 1,48,70,000 INR) was found from him after his inquiry.
