Bhuh: A ship containing rock salt from Pakistan via Dubai was halted by Customs department at Kandla port. In order to evade heavy duty levied on goods from Pakistan, the importer had routed the consignment via Dubai. However due to extra vigil on such consignments, the customs department found out that the origin of consignment was in Pakistan. The importer will face legal action including 200 per cent duty on this 25 tonne cargo of rock salt. The assessment process was on as per the Customs officials.
