A fisherman from Gujarat dies in Pakistani jail for unknown reasons

Porbandar: A 50-year old fisherman from Gir Somnath district in the state died in a Pakistani jail due to unknown reasons.
The fisherman named Jayanti Solanki, basically from Sutrapada village of Gir Somnath was apprehended by Pakistani authorities a year ago on high seas. He died a few weeks ago but the local authorities received the information on Sunday, as informed by an official.
Fisheries officer Vishal Gohel said that a team of Gujarat fisheries department from Veraval has reached the Wagah-Attari border in Punjab to receive the body of the fisherman. His mortal remains will be brought back and handed over to his family members in Sutrapada, he added.
The central government asked the Gujarat fisheries department to conduct further procedures after learning about the fisherman’s death from the Indian Embassy in Pakistan. DeshGujarat
