Locals in Dingucha doubt four persons dead in Canada could be from their village

Gandhinagar: Crime Branch of Ahmedabad Police has picked up a man from Paliyad village in North Gujarat for questioning after four Gujaratis died in Canada due to extreme cold while their alleged attempt to illegally cross over to America. A man taken to Crime Branch for questioning is believed an agent who sends people to Canada in exchange of consulting fees.

The names of four Gujarati speaking Indian national dead are yet not announced officially. However it is believed that the unfortunate family was from Dingucha village of Kalol taluka in Gandhinagar district of North Gujarat. Their names are Jagdish Patel (husband), Vaishali Jagdish Patel (wife), Gopi Jagdish Patel (daughter) and Dharmik Jagdish Patel (son).  They had left for Canada this month. They are unreachable and out of contact for their relatives back in Gujarat for last four days. Manitoba Police in Canada has stated that out of four dead people, two were children.

When scribes visited Jagdish Patel’s house, it was locked. According to neighbors, the parents of Jagdish Patel locked the house couple of days ago and perhaps left to the house of their other son who lives in Ahmedabad.

Investigation is going on in Canada by Manitoba Police in tandem with Indian Embassy there.  A carrier who was to take the group of 9 to 11 Indian nationals to America from Canada border has been arrested on American side with two Indian citizens who had come to Canada on students visa. One among these two Indian citizens is facing amputation of hand. The other has told police that he wanted to reach his uncle’s house in Chicago and he had entered Canada on fraudulent student visa.

With liberal government in place in Canada, it is relatively easier to get visa of Canada. Jagdish Patel and his family had gone to Canada on visitor visa. According to his relatives, Jagdishbhai and family were there as tourists. DeshGujarat
