13-year old ‘Rubber Girl’ from Gujarat gets Rashtriya Bal Puraskar

Surat: Anvi Zanzarukiya from Surat, also known as ‘Rubber Girl’ received Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar at the hands of PM Narendra Modi today on 24th January.

Anvi Zanzarukiya, a 13-year old specially-abled girl who has achieved expertise in Yoga, received Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022 at the hands of PM Narendra Modi through ‘block chain technology’. She received an award and an amount of Rs 1 lakh today on ‘Rashtriya Balika Divas’.

Total 29 children were selected for the award out of the applications of 600 children received by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the central government. Anvi Zanzarukiya is the only girl from Gujarat selected among the 29 awardees. The Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is given to the children of 5 to 18 years age group for achievements in sports, social services, education, arts, culture and courage.

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel congratulated her for receiving the award. She will be felicitated in a state level program to be held in Gir Somnath district on republic day on 26th January.

She started learning Yoga from the age of 11 years. She has achieved 3 gold medals and 2 bronze medals in the national level yoga competitions within the last 3 years. She has participated in 42 yoga competitions and achieved 51 medals so far. She is able to perform over 112 asanas. She has also got over 2 lakh likes on social media platforms.

She had undergone open heart surgery and she is suffering from mitral valve leakage at present. She has a disability in large intestine due to 21 trisomy and harsh spring disease. She has 75 percent mental disability. She also faces difficulty in speaking.

She had achieved a national award in the category of ‘creative child with disability’ by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, at the hands of president Ramnath Kovind.
