ACB Gujarat nabs female Sarpanch of Vadinar and her husband in Rs. 1.50 lakh bribe case

Jamnagar: Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed a female sarpanch of Vadinar gram panchayat in Khambhalia taluka of Devbhumi Dwarka district and her husband in a bribe case of Rs 1,50,000.

The complainant was appointed for the work of boundary wall construction and site development at IOCL Vadinar.

According to ACB, the accused Dr Abbasbhai Ibrahimbhai Sanghar- husband of the accused female sarpanch, had demanded Rs 4 lakh, household chattel, 3 mobile phones and 2 iPhones from the complainant to let him start the work and not to cause hindrance.

The accused had accepted the household items, 3 mobile phones including 2 Samsung mobiles and 1 Nokia mobile, and Rs 50,000 cash from the complainant and another person working with him.

The complainant had assured the accused person for payment of the remaining bribe amount of Rs 3,50,000 and Rs 1,50,000 for two iPhones.

The complainant contacted ACB as he was not willing to pay the remaining bribe. The accused was found taking a bribe of Rs 1,50,000 on behalf of his wife- female sarpanch Hushenabanu Abbasbhai Sanghar, during the trap executed by ACB at Hotel Sarovar Portico in Rajkot.
