ACB Gujarat nabs Fire Officer and Middleman in bribe case

Surat: Anti-corruption Bureau (Gujarat) has nabbed the fire officer of Mota Varachha in Surat city and a middleman in a bribe case involving sum of Rs 30,000.
The complainant had filed an application for the renewal of fire-safety No Objection Certificate(NOC) for a commercial shopping center in the fire and safety department of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).
According to ACB the accused fire safety officer Becharbhai Karmanbhai Solanki had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant for quick issuance of NOC. The accused fire safety officer had introduced the complainant to a middleman Sachinbhai Gohil and asked to pay the bribe money to Gohil.
The complainant contacted ACB as he was not willing to pay the bribe. The accused middleman was found accepting the bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant on behalf of the accused fire safety officer during a trap executed by ACB. Both accused are detained by ACB.
