January 29, 2022
Rajkot: A Hindu youth was given a threat by a group of Muslims and a bike was damaged in yet another incident of violence over alleged blasphemous social media post.
Victim Vinay Dodiya had put an Instagram story which would get delete automatically in 24 hours period. One Irshad Sandhi found this Instagram story blasphemous and used abusive language while threatening Dodiya and asking him to delete the story.
Dodiya was later called near Jilla garden for compromise over the matter, where over two dozen Muslims were gathered and one bike was damaged.
According to DCP of Rajkot Police, Bhaktinagar police station has filed a complaint and one accused has been held under sections 437, 504 and 114. He said, another complaint might be possibly filed on behalf of the government, but for now both parties have made compromise and therefore I don’t think that this matter will further go ahead.
The DCP said, the status was uploaded, but it got deleted in 24 hours. The DCP appealed for communal harmony and opined that caste and faith specific social media statuses must not be put online. He said Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi has given a call of Sab ka sath sab ka vikas.
Bhaktinagar police meanwhile has called Shanti Samiti (peace committee) meeting. Video clips of the incident have gone viral over social media. DeshGujarat
