Radhanpur observes bandh protesting attack on a Hindu girl

Patan: North Gujarat town Radhanpur in Patan district is observing bandh today protesting an attack on a Hindu girl by a Muslim youth.

A 25-year old victim girl has in her complaint stated that she was alone at home on Thursday when Shergadh based youth Baloch Yasin Majikhan arrived and insisted to marry with him. When refused by her, Yasin got angry and gave death threat to her father over a phone call. The victim girl has in a complaint stated, ‘later Yasin dragged me by holding my hairs and expressed his wish to finish me. With intention to kill me, he hit my head to a wall and a glass show-case. I suffered from head injuries and blood was coming out from wounds. As I shouted loudly, my family members Jagdishbhai Chaudhary and others rushed in and rescued me and locked Yasin in my house.’

The girl was taken to Dharpur based hospital for treatment, from where she filed complaint with Radhanpur police station. A meeting of local Hindus was held at Adarsh High School under the banners of Chaudhary community and Hindu Jagruti Manch. After the meeting, Bharatbhai Dhanabhai Chaudhary announced a silent rally, memorandum presentation and bandh call on Saturday which was supported by Rambhai Surabhai Bharwad and Dineshji Thakor from respective communities.

The police has arrested accused Yasin Baloch. The incident has resulted in anger among the locals. The accused’s family has left the village. Police bandobast of Local crime branch (LCB) and Special Operation Group (SOG) has been made across the taluka following this incident. DeshGujarat
