ABVP holds protests in Gujarat demanding justice for Lavanya

Sabarmati: Gujarat unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today staged protests across various districts of the state, demanding justice for Lavanya, a student of Christian Missionary run Sacred Girls High School in Thanjavur of Tamil Nadu who committed suicide on 19th January after pressure of religious conversion in her school.
ABVP Gujarat secretary Yutiben Gajare stated that the fight for justice to Lavanya will be continued by ABVP nationwide. ABVP has been doing protests at various local centers across the country over Lavanya’s suicide case.
A nun Raquel Mary and the boarding school’s sister Sagaya Marry had allegedly forced Lavanya to convert to Christianity. 33 ABVP karyakars nabbed by the Tamil Nadu police over protests outside Tamil Nadu CM’s residence are presently on 14-day remands granted by Saidapet court. The cases are filed against them under non-bailable IPC section 353. ABVP stated in a note that the DMK government of Tamil Nadu is suppressing the voice of democracy. DeshGujarat
