Gujarat govt nod for Bhavnath fair this year in Junagadh

Junagadh: The Maha Shivratri Mela at Bhavnath foothills of Mount Girnar in Junagadh will take place from 25th February to 1st March this year.
The Maha Shivratri Mela of Bhavnath was not organised for last 2 years due to the covid-19 pandemic. However, the state government has granted approval for organizing the traditional shivratri mela in Junagadh this year as peak of third wave of covid pandemic is over and the number of fresh cases is continuously decreasing day-by-day.

The sadhus, and devotees across the state had demanded to grant approval for Maha Shivratri mela at Bhavnath this year. The decision of the government was declared in a meeting organised by Junagadh collector Rachit Raj. The detailed discussion on various issues regarding the fair were discussed with the sadhus, leaders, MLAs, leaders of municipal corporations, and social bodies in this meeting. Various committees will be formed for organising the fair in the upcoming days.
Over a million people attend a five-day long Bhavnath fair mainly for darshan of naga babas (naked sadhus) and their march to Mrugi kund water tank at midnight on Maha Shivratri. DeshGujarat
