Gujarati signboards, instruction boards mandatory in certain public offices

Gandhinagar: The sports, youth and cultural department of the state government has made the usage of Gujarati language in the writings at the government offices, campuses and public places mandatory in the 8 municipal corporations of the state.

The usage of Gujarati language will also be mandatory at the public places of private ownership. The use of Gujarati language will be mandatory in the writings at cinema, theatres, banquet halls, schools and colleges, super markets, shopping malls, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, cafes, banks, libraries, and gardens. The decision will be in force in 8 municipal corporations namely Amdavad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Gandhinagar.
