Metro train moves on Western Ahmedabad tracks for the first time in pre-trial run

Sabarmati: A metro train rolled on the tracks of the western part of Ahmedabad city for the first time during the pre-trial run conducted on Friday night on about 2 km long stretch between the Gyaspur depot and Jivraj park stations. Such pre-trial runs are planned on the entire track of Phase – 1 portion of the project in Ahmedabad city in August by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation. The Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) Lucknow will conduct trials after pre-trial.

The safety trials will be conducted after the RDSO certifies the track after which the free runs will be started. The authorities aim to have both east-west and north-south corridors ready by April 2022, informed the officials.

The Gyaspur-Jivraj Park stretch is about 2 km long and has 2 stations namely APMC Vasna station and Jivraj Park station, informed the officials. The Gyaspur-Jivraj Park stretch that connects APMS Vasna and Jivraj Park stations is a part of the 18.87 km north-south corridor from APMC Vasna to Motera.
