Five booked over religious conversion in Bharuch

Bharuch: The police have booked 4 Muslims of Pursa village in Amod taluka of Bharuch and one maulavi of Bharuch over allegations of forcibly converting a Hindu man to Islam by threatening him.
The accused allegedly threatened a Hindu man named Chhagan Rayaji Parmar by telling that he has to adopt Islam or else leave the village around 12 to 15 years ago. The accused namely Anvarkha Ibrahim Pathan, Gemalsang Bharatsang Singha, Imran Nurbha Malek and Jahangir Gulam Sardar Malek had allegedly threatened the victim. They converted him to Islam with help of a Maulavi from Bholav named Maulvi Abdul Rahim Hafeji Napavala and named him Abdul Rehman Parmar.
The accused Anvarkha Ibrahim Pathan had made an affidavit promising a plot to the victim and accused Imran Nurbhai Malek made an affidavit promising to get construction of a residential house done. The two accused Gemalsang Bharatsang Singha and Jahangir Gulam Sardar Malek gave threats to the victim. The victim was working at Mariam masjid in Pursa village. He alleged that the salary was not paid to him for 2 years. The investigation is handed over to Jambusar DYSP. The accused are booked under the sections of Gujarat Freedom of Religion Act.
