Gujarat CM meets Maldhari leaders; suspends implementation of stray cattle regulation bill

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister today had prolonged discussion with leaders of Maldhari community regarding stray cattle menace. According to Ranchhodbhai Desai, the discussion was held in the backdrop of recently passed bill to regulate stray cattle. Desai said, the Chief Minister has decided to postpone the bill. Desai said The Chief Minister has assured to identify the Maldhari community people living in urban area and make alternative arrangement for them as per the court’s guidance. Desai couldn’t explain what he was meaning by ‘postponement’ of bill. Desai however said that the government and the community will seat together and come out with a solution that is acceptable to all. The bill was passed by the State assembly by majority of ruling party MLAs after hours long discussions. Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil had recently told the media persons that he had appealed the Chief Minister to reconsider the act and scrap it. DeshGujarat
