Police arrest two for issuing threats to withdraw police case against Siraj Don

Botad: The police on Thursday night arrested two accomplices of Siraj Don for making threatening calls to the brother of the Botad VHP President Mahendrabhai Mali, asking him to withdraw the case the latter has filed against Siraj if the Malis truly valued their lives.

It is worthwhile recalling here that the police had last week arrested Siraj Don and razed his farmhouse with a bulldozer after he had threatened Mali to remove the loudspeakers from the Hanumanji Temple.

According to the police complaint, Hirabhai, Mahendra’s brother, received a threatening call from an unknown number asking him to tell his brother to withdraw the police case he had filed against Siraj Don. The callers initially used vulgar language and ended the call after threatening him that the Malis would be killed unless they retracted the police complaint filed against Siraj Don.

Mahendrabhai said that when Hirabhai told him about the threatening call he had received on Thursday, they informed the police and also shared with them the call recording and the unknown number from which the call was made. The police swung into action immediately and tracked down Afzal Salim and Asif Mir on Thursday night itself and arrested both of them.

The police have also deployed adequate force around the house of the Mali family to ensure the family‘s security. DeshGujarat
