Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi reviews security ahead of Jagannath Rathyatra

Gandhinagar: Minister of State for Home, Harsh Singhvi on Friday chaired a meeting to take stock of the security arrangements for the Lord Jagannath Rathyatra, which will be held on July 1, 2022, after a hiatus of two years, at the temple premises in Ahmedabad.
Top brass of the police force such as the commissioner of police, joint commissioner (Crime Branch), joint commissioner of police (Traffic) attended the meeting.
Since the rathyatra is being organised after a two-year long hiatus, it is widely expected that a huge number of devotees would turn out for ‘darshan’ of Lord Jagannath and the home ministry has gone on high alert looking at the security challenges that the rathyatra is likely to throw up.
In 2020, the Lord Jagannath’s annual procession was conducted within the temple premises due to the corona pandemic whereas in 2021, it was conducted under stringent security arrangements with controlled access to the public. DeshGujarat
