Blast in wedding gift, a newly wed groom may lose vision, former lover of bride’s sister a prime suspect

Navsari: In a shocking incident that took place at Mindhabari village of Vansda taluka in Navsari district of South Gujarat, a newly wedded groom suffered from serious injuries as soon as he opened one of the packets of gifts received in wedding.

A newly wedded groom was opening various gift packets received in the wedding. When he opened one of the packets which reportedly contained a teddy bear and plugged it the blast occurred. The blast was so massive that a newly wedded groom’s half portion of one hand separated from his body. Victim groom’s both eyes also suffered heavy injuries. Victim is under medical treatment in Navsari. He may lose vision in both eyes.

Senior police officials and the team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) rushed to the spot and collected evidence. Prima facie a detonator was used for this blast.

Victim youth Latesh Gavit was wedded on May 12. According to his father in law Mr. Gavli his younger daughter and victim Latesh were checking gifts in the morning when this incident occurred. According to Mr. Gavli, his elder daughter’s former lover Raju Dhansukh Patel had sent a gift via Aarti Patel who works as Aasha worker. Mr. Gavli said that his elder daughter had stopped responding to her former lover. A 3-year old niece of the victim, Jiyansh Gavit has also suffered a fracture injury on forehead in this blast.
