Rs 200 crore museum to develop Vadnagar as heritage city

Vadnagar: A world class experimental museum to revive interest in the cultural, Buddhist and cultural heritage of Vadnagar is being developed at a cost of Rs 200 crore under the leadership of chief minister Bhupendra Patel, chief secretary Pankaj Kumar has informed during the closing ceremony of ‘Vadnagar International Conference -2022’

According to Pankaj Kumar, archaeologists and tourists from both from India as well as abroad will flock to Vadnagar attracted by the museum, generating lot of employment opportunities locally.

At the event, 7 universities entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government in the fields of archaeological research and excavation, study of cultural heritage, heritage protection, architect documentation & analysis, workshop, symposium and conference, tourism management and development, and museum related cultural activities. The universities that signed the MoUs are MS University, CEPT University, Ahmedabad University, IIT-Gn, Anant National University, Deccan University and Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

The three-day conference was conducted in six sessions. Discussions were held on topics such as archaeologically important sites of Vadnagar, water harvesting system, social and cultural beliefs, and archaeological research going on at different places during these six sessions.
