Ahmedabad: Car drivers need to be aware that if they cross the speed of 70 kilometers per hour on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, Sindhu Bhavan Road, or S P Ring Road, the fines will be severe.
For two-wheelers less than 100CC displacement, the speed limit is set at 60 Kilometers per hour, while the rest should not exceed the speed of 50 Kmph.
As per Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mayank Singh Chavda, “The first time offenders of this rule will be fined Rs 2,000. If the rule is violated again, a fine of Rs 4,000 will be imposed, and the third time the driver’s license will be revoked.”
“We have eight interceptors, and highway patrol vehicles have also been deployed, which will monitor the speed,” he added
Officials said such campaigns had been conducted periodically in the past as well. In March of the same year, there were 57 arrests by the traffic police. There are speed limit signs on these roads, and drivers will have to ensure that they comply with the speed limit.
Officials have stated that the speed limit does not apply to ambulances, fire brigades, other medical emergency vehicles, and police vehicles.
