A man survives after hand to hand fight with leopard in South Gujarat

Surat: A 50-year old man survived after resisting the attack of a panther at Kalibel village in Mandvi taluka in Surat.

A panther suddenly came out of a sugarcane farm and attacked on the man named Umed Bhimasiya Chaudhari (age 50), living in Nishal faliya at Kalibel in Mandvi taluka. He resisted the panther’s attack constantly for 5 minutes, following which the panther finally left from there. The locals gathered after hearing the shouts and admitted him to Mandvi government referral hospital for treatment for the injuries. He got 10 stiches for the injuries. He was then discharged from the hospital. The forest department started actions for capturing the panther after the incident.

Umedbhai said that he didn’t let the panther attack his throat. He added that he had learned how to survive from the wild animal attacks from a TV show on Discovery channel. He survived using the same method for resisting the panther’s attack, he said. DeshGujarat
