Canada dreams: Police book immigration and visa agent in Kalol for fraud

Mahesana: Kalol police have filed a complaint against an immigration and visa agent for allegedly defrauding three people of 11 lakh rupees after assuring them that he would complete all process and ensure that they get a visa to settle in Canada.

According to the complaint, Nishant bhai Dharmendra bhai Patel approached Sandip Ganpat Lal Barot, an immigration and visa consultant, to begin the process for Canada PR for him and his family. Barot had explained Nishant bhai the entire process in detail and the expenses of Rs 42 lakh, which he would incur as the process progresses.

Nishant bhai also gave Sandip Barot the cases of two of his friends for Canada PR after which Sandip called all the people to Mumbai for medical check-ups. At the time of the medical check-up, Sandip asked Nishantbhai to pay Rs 3 lakh and also got Nishantbhai’s friends together to pay Rs 7.5 lakh. After receiving the payment, Sandip told his clients that he would inform them about the further process.

Since then the three, including Nishantbhai, claim that they are unable to get in touch with Sandip on his mobile number. After Sandip became untraceable, all three realized that they had been defrauded and decided to lodge a police complaint. DeshGujarat
