Naranpura Sports Complex to be completed in 30 months; Amit Shah lays foundation stone

Naranpura: Union Home minister and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha representative Amit Shah today said that the new sport complex at Naranpura will complete in 30 months and Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi will inaugurate it after that. Shah was speaking at the foundation stone laying function for Naranpura sports complex.

Shah said this plot in Naranpura which is located 100 meters away from his home was reserved for the sports complex but there was no movement regarding its development. Shah said once he approached Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi and asked him for Rs. 500 crore for Naranpura Sports complex. Shah said the Prime Minister immediately gave his approval. Shah said he himself during his childhood would play kabbadi and cricket on this ground.

Shah said many schools have no playground in this area. Even the subject of Physical Training (PT) has been removed from the schools. But with this new sports complex at Naranpura, the schools will be given slots to take students to this sports complex. The schools can merge their PT sessions and use this sports complex. Today school principals and management people are called here as they have to connect the schools with this sports complex once it is completed in the next 30 months.

Shah said, once upon a time there was a common belief that Gujarat has a poor show in two sectors – Army and Sports. But not a single position in the Army stays vacant in Gujarat quota now and Gujarat was on 29th rank in Sports and it is now on 10th rank. The efforts are on to take it to the number one position in the country in the next ten years.

Rs. 8,613 crore works are completed in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency in the last three years, Amit Shah who has represented this constituency for the last three years said.

Our players at the Olympics now win gold, silver and bronze, and the efforts of the Prime Minister are in direction to get the place in the first five ranks in Olympic in the next ten years.

Shah said the largest cricket stadium at Motera which is named after Shri Narendrabhai Modi is going to witness the world record today with presence of over one lakh people watching the cricket match. Shah said the Naranpura Sports complex will be named after its inauguration before year 2024.
