Ahmedabad-Udaipur broad-gauge train service likely from August 15

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad-Udaipur broad-gauge train service via Himmatnagar is likely to begin on August 15, 2022, according to sources.

Work on converting the 208.48-kilometre long Udaipur-Ahmedabad railway track into broad-gauge had been underway for the past five and half years and is now in the final stages. The work to convert 94.73 kilometres of Ahmedabad – Dungarpur stretch into broad-gauge was completed and train service has begun from January 15.

Work on converting the 52.50 kilometers long stretch of railway track between Dungarpur and Jai Samand station into broad-gauge is also largely complete and the CRS inspection has also been conducted.

Work on the Udaipur-Kharva Vanda Tunnel track was the most difficult part and even work on this 24.26 kilometer-long stretch is also complete. After work on converting the Jai Samand-Kharva Vanda tunnel, a 37-kilometre stretch was finished, and a goods train passed over it on May 31 safely on the region’s tallest Oda bridge.

With the safe passage of the goods train, the Ajmer division has started harboring hopes that the possibility of a CRS inspection at the end of June cannot be ruled out once the remaining work is completed in the next 10-15 days.

The Western Railway PRO said that some posts on social media claiming that the train service will start from July onwards are wrong. Only the Ajmer division can clarify the dates after conducting a CRS inspection but work of converting the railway track to broad-gauge is largely over. DeshGujarat.
