Heroin worth Rs 21,000 crore seized from Mundra port destroyed on Drugs Destruction Day

Kutch: The country observed a Drugs Destruction Day on Wednesday and as part of celebrations 3,000 kgs of Heroin seized from Mundra port was destroyed at a company in Lakadia.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence had seized this Heroin during raids conducted at Mundra port from containers that had arrived from Afghanistan in September 2021. The market value of this Heroin was Rs 21,000 crores.
The entire quantity of the narcotic drug was under tight police security was taken to Saurashtra Enviro company located near Lakadia of Bhachau taluka. The entire 3,000 kgs of heroin was then destroyed in parts in a furnace at the company.
The operation for destroying the heroin started at around noon and lasted till late evening. It was virtually overseen by Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. DeshGujarat
