Americans in awe of linen and viscose fabric from Surat, huge demand for city’s textiles

Atlanta: The Chamber has organized a three-day exhibition in Atlanta to encourage the textile industries of Surat. Stalls displaying yarn from Surat to finished fabric have been put up at the exhibition. The Chamber claims that foreign buyers have fallen in love with the fabrics from Surat.

Saturday was the second day of the Global Textile Trade Fair organized by the Chamber. Many foreign businessmen have evinced interest in establishing trading ties. Indian ethnic wear for women, Kurti-kurta, home textile, medical textile, apparel and garments, handicraft and handloom are on display at the fair.

President of the Chamber, Ashish Gujarati, said that large numbers of visitors have turned up for the fair. Foreign buyers are particularly impressed with viscose and linen fabric being produced by the textile industries of Surat. Even the proprietor of an Australian company has visited the fair.
