Panchmahal: The Panchmahal police have detained one adult and four minors for physically assaulting a 24-yr-old man in Shahera town, who had a post supporting ex-BJP spokesperson, Nupur Sharma, in his WhatsApp status.

In his complaint, the victim alleged that 8 people had arrived on bikes when he was at home on Sunday and physically assaulted him. They had also threatened to kill him.

Nupur Sharma, who has now been suspended from the party, had allegedly made obnoxious comments about Prophet Mohammed during a television debate. The controversy surrounding Nupur Sharma’s remarks continues to rage across the country with the minority community staging violent protests in several states demanding strict action against the ex-BJP spokesperson.
