Three dozen tribals return to Hindu faith, celebrate their reentry to Sanatana dharma in Tapi

Tapi: Over 35 converted Christian tribals belonging from the Kotvadiya community did ‘Ghar Vapasi’ by reconverting selves to Hindu faith during at Budhwada in Songadh taluka of Tapi district.

A procession was held prior to the sthapana of Gram Devta Hanumanji by Tapi Jilla Rashtriya Janjati Manch and Bhathiji Seva Sangh on this occasion on Saturday.

It is learnt that no Hindu religious celebrations were held in the village for many years. The locals were therefore in joyous mood while celebrating their return to Hindu faith.

Over 35 locals from 6 families converted to Hindu faith during the ceremony. The president of Tapi Jilla Rashtriya Janjati Manch Pardipkumar Vasava said that no religious festivals were celebrated in the area due to the high rate of religious conversions. The locals had left their original religion for 3 generations due to unawareness, he said.

These locals happily joined the shobhayatra at the arrival of Gram rakshak Shri Devani Hanumanji Maharaj in the village and danced by lifting the saffron flag, he said and added that they returned to their original religion later after puja vidhi. DeshGujarat
