Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will come up with 21 Pink Toilets, dedicated for women, in 7 zones of the city at a cost of around Rs 10.68 crore. The Standing Committee of AMC has approved the work.

The Pink Toilets will be dedicated for women and no men will be allowed in them. The toilets will be built at a cost of Rs 5 crore initially. The operation and maintenance cost of Rs 4.5 crore for 5 years will be paid to the contractor who will build them.

The toilets will be painted with pink color. There will be a female caretaker in the toilet. The notice board of no entry for men will be installed outside the toilet. There will be 5 western style toilets in each pink toilet. There will be a special room for changing and baby feeding. A sanitary pad vending machine will be installed in each toilet. The toilet with less height and ramp will be installed for specially abled females. The exhaust fans will be installed to prevent bad smells. They will have facilities of mirror, hand dryer and liquid soap. DeshGujarat
