GCC countries remove anti dumping duty: Morbi Ceramic Industries to benefit from Central govt’s efforts

Morbi: Thanks to the efforts made under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have withdrawn the anti dumping duty on ceramic tiles exported from India. This is a major booster for the ceramic industry in Morbi.

The anti dumping duty on ceramic tiles was on an average average 41.8 percent. It was as high as 106 percent for new companies. The ceramic association of Morbi had appealed to do something on this front as the anti dumping duty was hurting the Indian ceramic industry’s interests to access gulf market, and China was benefitting by it.

The industries in Morbi had made representation before Lok Sabha MP Mohanbhai Kundariya who further conveyed it to the central government. The central government covered this aspect while signing the foreign trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which was signed early this year. DeshGujarat
