Gandhinagar: The state government has proposed a 1630 km coastal corridor highway from Umargam in South Gujarat to Narayan Sarovar in Kutch.

The coastal corridor highway is proposed under the PM Gati Shakti scheme. The state government has decided land for the 300 km on the start of the highway which includes land in the Valsad, Navsari, Surat and Bharuch districts. It will be the longest coastal highway in the country.

Out of the 1630 km, 140 kms highway will be developed as a greenfield coastal area and the remaining 1490 km will be developed as a brownfield road. The coastal highway will be at least 10 meters wide with 3 driving lanes. The selected area beside the highway will be reserved as a buffer area. It will be reserved for developments in future.
