State govt to release 17000 cusecs water for 7 days in Narmada canals

Gandhinagar: The state government has decided to release 17000 cusecs of water daily for 7 days in the main Narmada canals of the North Gujarat and Saurashtra regions.
The minister of water supply Rushikesh Patel informed that the cultivation of kharif crops will be possible timely in 11 lakh hectares of area due to the release of water continuously for 7 days. The state government has also decided to release water in over 700 connected lakes under the Sujlam Suflam scheme in North Gujarat. He added that CM Patel has also granted in principle approval to a special scheme for Karmavat and Mukteshwar. It is planned to benefit 70 villages by releasing water in a lake spread across112 hectares at a cost of Rs 500 crore. DeshGujarat
