96.5 per cent houses in Gujarat are now having tap water connections : State Govt

Gandhinagar: Total 96.5 percent houses in Gujarat now have tap water connections, as per a note from the state government, released today.
As many as 88,56,438 houses out of total 91,77,459 in the state are connected with tap water connections, under Nal Se Jal scheme.
Total 16 districts of the state have achieved 100 percent tap water connections. They are: Anand, Bhavnagar, Botad, Dang, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gandhinagar, Gir Somnath, Junagahd, Kutch, Kheda, Mehsana, Morbi, Patan, Porbandar, Rajkot and Vadodara.
PM Modi had launched the Jal Jivan Mission on 15th August 2019. It aimed to cover all the houses with tap water connections till 2024. Only 71 percent of rural areas had tap water connections when the Nal Se Jal scheme was launched in 2019.
